A while back I was talking with some friends about how to find things about Los Alamos NM online. What business are in town, when are they open, where should I go? What is a good place to stay, eat, or shop? Where should I move, what is available? What is there to do in the small town? That is how Our Los Alamos was born.
I’ve lived in Los Alamos, almost all my life. I join the small town with the different feel. I cant say that I’ve ever found another place like it. So part of Our Los Alamos is about giving back to that lifestyle, to show others what it means to me, and help them connect with this area like I have.
This is the first project that from conception to creation has been solely my doing. The design, the logo, the brand, and the identity is all original and all very important to to me. It like the project that is never quite good enough, because you want everyone to enjoy it as much as you have.
I’ve recently started to let the word out, slowly to begin, about Our Los Alamos. It is light on content, but more is being added every week. Please take a look, and give me your feedback.
Hey, neighbor! I'm the guy who lives next door and says hi every once in a while, so I thought it was pretty random that I stumbled on your site (Our Los Alamos) today, and I thought I'd send you a couple of thoughts:
1. It looks like some of your apostrophes are getting garbled into exclamation points on the About page. There are also a few typos in the text on that page.
2. Links are hard to spot. The gray color of the links makes them hard to notice.
3. The Homes section in the classifieds has prices marked as $/month, but the For Sale listings are all in total $
4. I didn't notice that the news page was a slideshow (I clicked off the page the fist time). You might add some controls for the slideshow to highlight that fact. Also, I think it would serve as a better landing page to the site.
5. I don't see a way to get back to the home page. It would be nice if the logo linked to the home page.
6. On the Diamond Drive news page, "affects" should be used instead of "effects", and the number 1 should probably be spelled out
7. The Sign Up and Log In links aren't visible from every page (News pages).
It's a great idea for a site, though. I always thought vla.com was outdated and needed a home-grown replacement. What did you use to build the site? Where are you hosting it?
Hi Neighbor!
Thanks for taking a look at the site. I havent done much to promote it yet, how did you find it?
Great list, I took care of a bunch of these tonight. #4 I completely agree with, arrows would go a long way in making the slideshow function clearer. And it is the current plan to move that to the home page… once I take the video down (probably soon)
#7 is interesting, I need to integrate my logins with wordpress. Until I do that..
I built it using CodeIgniter with a Mysql DB. The news section is wordpress. I have a dedicated virtual server with Media Temple, on which I host sites, and this.
We should talk more about it sometime… I'll be around next week. You should try out the pool table too
This week is a little crazy, but next week might work for me. I'll definitely have to give the pool table a try!
Thanks for sharing.It’s helpful.
Nice! We truly liked this work.

Good site and good post
Pretty nice post, very beneficial stuff. Never considered I’d obtain the facts I want in this article. I have been scouring everywhere in the web for a while now and was starting to get frustrated. Luckily, I came onto your blog and got precisely what I had been struggling to find.
